mondays are not my favourite day of the week, but when they end as nicely as this, how can i complain?

hemslöjden and homemade biscuits
the latest issue of one of my favourite magazines arrived today: hemslöjden. and i really felt like baking so i tried a recipe i’ve never tried before. they’re called ökensand (desert sand). the dough turned out a bit dry, but the biscuits taste wonderful! the recipe comes from the classic cookbook sju sorters kakor (swedish cakes and cookies), of course.

Tack för “awarden” känner mig mycket hedrad, har dock svår att välja vilka av alla härliga stickbloggare jag skulle vidarebefodra den till…

These cookies are my mother-in-law’s speciality! She uses this same recipe from that book (however, she calls them “drömmar”). She also puts an almond in the groove. Even with all her experience they don’t always turn out right — it is very easy to overcook them. When they do come out right, they are just about the best cookie in the world; the top should be slightly soft and powdery (like sand) with a center just hard enough that it won’t fall apart, but soft enough to melt in your mouth when you eat it.

I probably should have clarified that the cookie my mother-in-law calls drömmar are different from the drömmar sold in Swedish stores.

Sämre kan man ha en måndag. Kakorna ser jättegoda ut.
